![]() I would actually consider doing that, if it would work. Allow recording of the AD and digital input simultaneously.Įvery other 2-channel interface that I'm aware of (Prism Lyra 2, Lynx Hilo, Apogee Symphony 2圆) have both of these features. Make the optical I/O switchable between S/PDIF and ADAT.Ģ. Please, if anybody at Antelope is listening, create a Pure2 II (Pure2 Squared?) with either or both of these additions:ġ. The price difference doesn't bother me (the Hilo is actually cheaper in Canada than the Pure2), but I'd prefer the quality of the Pure2, assuming the sound is as good as some are saying. So basically I'm being forced to the Lynx Hilo or the Prism Lyra 2. I'm not interested in the Zen or the Orion, I need quality not quantity. I want to try the Pure2, I believe it's probably great, but in a PC environment it would limit me to 2 channels at a time. I don't think I have the only project studio or home studio which wants top-notch conversion but 2 channels isn't quite enough. ![]() In order to be able to use 2 Pure2's together, a minimum of $1000 additional would be required for something like an RME AES card to connect them digitally, and then only get partial functionality. You can string 4 Pure2's together, and still only have a single stereo AD. But then, you can't use the AD in both units simultaneously. Can you please explain how you would add a second Pure2 to a PC-based system? Only one USB port can be used, so the second unit would need to connect to the first unit digitally. MarcelI would actually consider doing that, if it would work. Even at $4400, the units are a bargain for the quality they offer. If you absolutely need 2 mastering D/A's and can't use USB for both the Monitor and Main D/A, then I have to suggest two Pure2's. We do have a lot of extra features at this price point that no other product has. We specifically kept it as simple and powerful as we could for the best use of it's power supply and the other circuitry to keep the emphasis on "purely great sound". The Orion doesn't have 64 digital receivers, it has a single MADI receiver and then an assignable S/PDIF in and out. You can use the A/D input on one D/A and the selected digital input on another D/A. The other dealers will have more stock in 1-2 weeks. Westlake Pro in LA does have a couple units in stock right now, if anyone wants one right away. VK and Sweetwater sold out of their initial orders. In fact, there are 5x as many customers who have commented directly or to their dealers about them, but aren't posters on Gearslutz. ![]() You just send a live broadcasting link to the artist and feed the broadcast directly from your mixdown/mastering converter.Īll of the comments from users who have received their Pure2 have been extremely positive. I use it all the time while mixing records for busy musicians who can't attend the sessions! So for those of you who plan to use your Pure2 using AES the USB connection could still be a very useful feature. And you have certainly nailed it !įor those of you who didn't hear a Pure2 yet in my experience we are talking about probably the best ADDA I've heard regardless of price, and given its price and onboard clock distribution it's nothing less than a game changer like many of Antelope's other products.īTW there is another major advantage for you mixing and mastering engineers who uses the Pure2 using AES to consider, you can always connect the USB to a second computer (while your main mastering comp connected via AES) and broadcast your session using Nicecast with no further conversion for the broadcast.
